UNION GAP, Wash.-- The new JC Penney store in Union Gap is now hiring. They're looking to fill about 100 new jobs by the time they open in a few months.
The store is being built next to the new Cabela's store, which announced last month they were also hiring about 100 new employees.
Yakima's previous Penney's store closed down about ten years ago due to low profits.
Union Gap's mayor says he thinks this new store will survive.
"It's not here to come for a day and then go for tomorrow... It's here for... Here for a generation," says Mayor Jim Lemon.
Penney's representatives say they expect to open the store on October 5th. That'll happen just after Cabela's opening in September. If you'd like to apply for a job, click here.
