YAKIMA, Wash.-- Governor Gregoire stopped by Yakima as part of her two-day tour of Eastern Washington.

She sat in on a meeting about the Yakima River Basin's upcoming plans, which would work toward improving the state's water supply. They include new pipelines and reservoirs to help prevent drought conditions. The governor told officials to push for legislation that would pay for these projects.

"We all know if we don't get busy now, we're gonna pay the consequences dearly in our future. So, to my successors: I ask them to commit to make sure that the good work of these folk moves forward," says Gregoire.

The governor also visited sites in Sunnyside and Richland. She'll continue her tour tomorrow with a ground breaking at the Red Mountain Pump Back Station near Benton City.

She'll also visit the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center in Prosser and a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Railex storage warehouse near Burbank.
