Historical Society set to expand

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - The Franklin County Historical Society and Museum signed paperwork Thursday, claiming their rights to three lots east of the museum on Bonneville.

A small group gathered at the Frontier Title and Escrow Company office in Pasco as President Rick Venable and Vice President Paul Whitemarsh penned their John Henry's on the dotted line, finalizing the Historical Society's ownership to the properties.

Venable said he thinks the new additions will likely bring more people downtown and get them more interested in the history.

"We still have lots of work to do, we just got the property and what kind of structure will be placed on it is still open to debate," said Venable.

Once the property has broken ground and whatever new project they choose goes up, the Society plans to meld the old with the new. They're hoping to get historical information on the Internet so when visitors walk the area they'll be able to get background information on the site right there on their smart phone or tablet.
