Tri-Cities Cancer Center unveils 'History Wall'

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash., -- A new 'History Wall' at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center highlights the life and accomplishments of several community activists, including Billie Jane Lampson.

Billie Jane served as an honorary lifetime board member of the center's foundation, and helped establish the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Guild.

Over a four year period, Billie Jane oversaw more than 100 special events to benefit the construction and development of the cancer center.

"From all of the stories we were hearing (last night) from so many people that worked with her, she was determined to make this cancer center happen," says the foundation's event specialist Elizabeth McLaughlin.  "I think that that determination is just beyond comparison and really made this place happen."

The mural also includes several mementos and photos from other community leaders who helped make the Tri-Cities Cancer Center a reality.
