Contestants compete in Miss Yakima County Pageant this weekend
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Girls from around the Yakima area will compete in the Miss Yakima County Pageant.
This is video from a previous year. The winner won't just be awarded a crown but also a one thousand dollar scholarship. The event is split up into an adult and teen category. The contestants also each choose a cause to highlight like preventing childhood obesity and autism awareness.
"I feel it's great... I mean it really... It's something that you learn to care about your cause and to understand that it's something very important to the community," says Miss Yakima County Outstanding Teen Tamara Allard.
The winner of this pageant will go on to compete against other girls statewide for the title of Miss Washington.
The Miss Yakima County Pageant is happening this Sunday inside the Capitol Theatre. The competition starts at three pm.
