Pasco Walmart gets liquor license suspension for ten days

PASCO, Wash.-- Shoppers at the Pasco Walmart were a little confused Saturday when they couldn't buy alcohol there.

The reason they couldn't is because the store's liquor license was just suspended. The suspension will last until August 13th. The suspension is the consequence of the Washington State Liquor Control Board catching the store selling to a minor.

It was all part of a sting operation to make sure stores are following liquor laws. In these checks the board sends an underage person in to buy alcohol and in this case they were able to make the purchase

Pasco Walmart shopper that spoke with KNDU, all said they think the suspension is for the best.

"I was looking for beer and they don't have it right now, for a few days, and I'm glad to hear they're being a little strict with the laws," says shopper Jennifer Weaver.

"Minors get killed every day using alcohol. You've got to be really careful," says shopper Sharon Dailey.

"Maybe minors get into accidents, maybe kill somebody. It'll ruin the reputation of the community," says shopper Tayon Vorabouth.

The store didn't respond to the citation within 20 days, which led to the enforcement of a suspension. If they responded to the citation there would be no suspension and instead they'd pay a one thousand dollar fine.
