"Biggest Loser" winner speaks at childhood obesity fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- A past winner from the show "The Biggest Loser" stopped in Yakima today for a fundraiser to fight childhood obesity.

Ali Vincent spoke to the crowd about her experiences on the show and staying fit.

The event raises money as part of the "Apple Health for Kids" program, which gives free and low cost health coverage for low-income children.

Vincent says it's an especially important program in Yakima, which has one of the highest obesity rates in the country.

"One of the things that we realize is that America has such a huge obesity epidemic, and I was part of that, I was morbidly obese... You know... And one way to stop that is leading by example," says Vincent.

The program is part of a partnership between the Pink Lady apple company and the Washington Health Care Authority.

Money raised from the event will go to Memorial Hospital's Children's Wellness program.
