RICHLAND, Wash.-  In a collaborated effort in law enforcement, police and deputies bring down a fraud ring spanning across the region to fund drugs.

Richland, Kennewick, Pasco and Walla Walla police, along with the Benton County Sheriff's and Prosecutor's offices announced 36 people have been arrested after a 3 month criminal fraud investigation.

The charges range from identity theft to armed robbery.

Police say the thieves' goal was to get personal documents like ID's, checks and credit cards.

Richland Police Chief, Chris Skinner says, "In this particular case, they gave us a small opening in this door with this fraud and identity theft.  We walked through the door.  We cultivated the informants.  We cultivated the information and we had some outstanding police work and detective work done.  It had a huge impact on a lot of different criminal elements in our community."

Police seized more than $60-thouand dollars in cash and 25 grams of drugs during the arrests.
