Matt Flynn embracing chance to become starting quarterback
RENTON, Wash. -- On Tuesday Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Caroll named Matt Flynn the starter for Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee Titans. Russell Wilson, the former Tri-City Dust Devil, will start the second half.
That means Tarvaris Jackson, the starter from last year, loses his reps at least for now. The quarterback battle at least for now drops to two.
"I'm looking at it as a great opportunity. I've always been the guy that I don't let things get too big for me or too little for me. I'm looking at it as a chance to just go out there and prove that I can run this offense and prove that I can take control and move the ball. It's not something that I'm nervous about or thinking too much about. I'm excited I get the opportunity. This is kind of what I've been looking for and waiting for," Flynn said.
Saturday the Seahawks host the Titans who have their own local quarterback battle going on right now with local interest. It is former Seahawk Matt Hasselbeck versus former Washington Huskie, Jake Locker.
