PULLMAN, Wash. - The WSU Board of Regents has appointed Rafael Pruneda as its student member for the 2012-2013 academic year. Governor Chris Gregoire announced the selection of WSU's fifteenth student regent this week.
The WSU Board of Regents is the university's governing body. The board consists of 10 members, including one student. Pruneda's appointment runs through June 30, 2013. Born and raised in Othello, Wash., Pruneda followed his two sisters to WSU. While at school,Pruneda has been actively involved in student government. His experience includes being the co-chair of the Chicana/Latina/Student Alliance, president of the first Aztec based brotherhood in the Northwest, ASWSU senator, ASWSU election board chair, and ASWSU assistant-director of Multicultural Affairs. Pruneda has also been awarded the prestigious WSU President's award twice.
Pruneda has already earned a bachelor's degree in History, and is now working towards a degree in Comparative Ethnic Studies, with minors in English and Global Studies. He hopes to pursue a graduate degree in Higher Education Administration.
