SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-- Sunnyside's interim city manager still has his job after he was arrested for theft Monday night.
The Sunnyside City Council decided to keep Frank Sweet on staff until his court case is over.
Sweet is accused of stealing and deleting records from his time as Selah's city administrator. He was released from jail on Tuesday.
Sunnyside's mayor says if Sweet is found not guilty, they plan to hire him as their permanent city manager.
"Frank Sweet has been nothing but an excellent city manager for us... We believe that these charges will be dismissed or that he will be found innocent," says Mayor Mike Farmer
Farmer says he doesn't know what will happen if Sweet is found guilty. He says that would be up to the city council to decide.
