New Tourism Program Aimed at Bringing in Wine Lovers

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - Regional tourism, airline, and wine organizations are making getting to Washington's wine country a little easier. In a new partnership, Walla Walla and Tri-cities tourism groups joined with Yakima to announce their "Taste and Tote" program. The program allows customers who fly Alaska Airlines into one of the three airports to waive tasting fees at participating wineries. The airline will then waive a luggage fee for the first checked case of wine. Organizers say the program will benefit local economies as a whole.

"And just a host of different businesses are going to benefit financially as a result of those visitors coming into Washington's wine country," said Kris Watkins, Tri-Cities Tourism & Convention Bureau CEO.

Enterprise rent-a-car will also waive drop-off fees when customers return cars to one of the three airports.
