Kennewick's sidewalks improving

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Bit by bit, Kennewick's sidewalks are becoming more user friendly. The city received another grant to reconstruct the walkways with concrete sidewalk ramps to be more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The $225,000 project is paid for out of a Community Development Block Grant.

"We certainly want to have as many improved as possible depending on the funding we receive," said Customer Service Manager Evelyn Lusignan. "So we've been successful for at least ten years in getting those funds every year. So clearly, through our application process, they see the need."

This time, the improvements are being done on Columbia Center Boulevard, W. First Avenue and S. Garfield Street as well as N. Huntington Street and Tenth Avenue.
