RICHLAND, Wash.-- The search for a new chancellor is underway at WSU Tri-Cities. WSU Tri-Cities has appointed a seventeen person committee to look for the school's next chancellor.
The committee will recommend candidates who they think will provide the best overall direction for all the campus programs. That recommendation will then go to WSU President Elson Floyd. Seven members of the search committee are WSU Tri-Cities faculty and staff members. A searching firm from Dallas will help them find the best candidates.
"We don't know yet who the top people are. We don't know whether it'll be someone that we already know or if it'll be someone from across the country. There's all kinds of factors that could go into that. And this could be a very desirable position for a lot of people looking to move up in academia," says Melissa O'Neil Perdue, WSU Tri-Cities spokesperson.
Candidate screening is underway now and the new chancellor will likely be announced in the spring. The school hopes to have their new leader in place by July 1st 2013.
