UPDATE: Diamond Butte fire 30% contained

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: The Diamond Butte wildfire is 30% contained tonight.

-----------------------------------------------

NEAR WHITE SWAN, Wash.-- Firefighters have strengthened fire lines around the Diamond Butte wildfire that's burning on the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation about 15 miles north of White Swan.

Crews say they have the blaze about 20% contained.

It's burning in a heavily wooded area that's making it tough for crews, but it is not threatening any homes or structures right now.

More than 250 firefighters are on the fire lines, and they're getting air support from four helicopters.

The fire started Sunday after lightning strikes ignited timber in the area.
