City workers from Pasco, Kennewick, Richland compete in blood drive
RICHLAND, Wash. -- There's a friendly competition going on right now between Kennewick, Pasco and Richland to see who can donate the most blood for the American Red Cross.
The cities decided to participate in the challenge because Summer is when the Red Cross needs the most help and issued an emergency appeal. The challenge is to see how many employees from each city will donate.
Gordon Beecher, the HR Director for the City of Richland says he's been calling all supervisors to have the employees come in. He says its their first year they're participating.
"We have people spread out all over the city whether it's the water department, police, fire, or waste water..etc, the electrical department, so getting them all together in a couple of spots is a challenge in itself," says Beecher.
The winning city gets a trophy and bragging rights.
Pasco is having theirs at Police Training Facility on August 27th from 10-3. Richland is also having a second drive at the City Shops August 28th and Kennewick is doing one at City Shops on the 29th and another at City Hall.
