Arts are for the Ageless at the Benton Franklin Fair
KENNEWICK, Wash.- A life long Columbia Basin resident and artist, doesn't let age slow her down from painting.
89-year old Ede Johnson offered fair goers Thursday, a demonstration using water colors in the fine arts exhibit hall.
She usually spends her days painting and teaching others at the Kennewick Senior Center and Canyon Lakes Manor.
Johnson's work can be seen all over Kennewick, including the Historical Society, where she spend hours on a ladder at age 80 painting a mural about "The Kennewick Man" whose remains were found in the Columbia River
Johnson says, "I just love doing it. I tell them, I probably will be painting the top of my coffin. That's how much I care about my painting."
She also says chasing around her two little shih-zu's keeps her going.
