10th annual hot shots tournament starts Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.--A section of downtown Yakima is closed off for the 10th Annual "Hot Shots 3 on 3" basketball tournament.

1,800 players will play this weekend, making it the biggest tournament yet.

All types of different players can make up a team, including elementary school kids and adults.

The Director of the Yakima Valley Sports Commission, Rich Austin, said the tournament brings in roughly 13,000 people each year.

"It's important to give the kids something to do," said Austin. "Something to make them physically fit, and this is one of the few events that brings everyone from the valley together."

Austin said the money raised will go into the sports commission budget so they can continue to market Yakima as a sports tourist destination.
