Yakima City Council develops strategic plan

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.--Yakima's City Council met Tuesday to layout a strategic plan based on the results of its latest citizen survey.

The city manager said the council will base their top priorities on the concerns and needs that citizens felt were most important.

Some big issues the council is also discussing include public safety, government accountability and code enforcement.

"The built environment clearly has registered based upon the survey," said City Manager Tony O'Rourke. "People I think our loyal and love Yakima, but they're not as enamored with its physical appearance and that has to be addressed."

The city manager said the strategic plan will essentially work as a road map, outlining where the city is going, how it's getting there, and how they'll measure progress.
