NEAR WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A semi caused a three vehicle accident along Highway 12 Tuesday morning in a construction zone.
A 62-year-old semi-truck driver failed to stop as a flagger directed and rear-ended a van driven by a 22-year-old Pasco man, pushing it into oncoming traffic. The semi then also hit a Prius, driven by a 39-year-old man from Richland.
State patrol said it's a good reminder to pay extra attention in construction areas.
"The best advice is to pay attention to what's going on around you," said Sgt. Michael Eggleston. "Obviously look at the signs, be aware of where the construction is and be prepared to either slow down or stop immediately if that need arises."
Only minor injuries were reported in the accident. Although, the driver of the semi was cited for negligent driving in the second degree. Fines are doubled in construction zones.
