Selah, WASH.--The fire burning along North Wenas Road near Selah is now fully contained, but left some destruction in its wake.
A mobile home and a couple structures are gone.
The mobile home was shared by two couples. Neighbors said it was a home they could enjoy on weekends and holidays, but now, it's completely destroyed.
The next-door neighbors also lost their chicken coop and all eight chickens, but miraculously their home was saved.
The Mitchell's said they thought for sure their house would go up in flames.
They said they've been living there for fifteen years and can't imagine having to start over.
"It's depressing," said Thomas Mitchell. "It kind of goes in stages from the initial fire. You get up in the morning and you go out and look. You begin to assess damage, and we're still kind of coming out of shock."
The Mitchell's said that firefighters believe the greenway around their property saved their home.
The investigation to determine the cause of the fire is underway, but firefighters said they have already ruled out ignition by a mechanical source and campfire.
