Benton City woman fighting cancer is name honorary firefighter

Posted: Updated:

BENTON CITY, Wash.-- A Benton City woman, Jessica Weston, is fighting colon cancer and Saturday the Benton County Fire Department took the time to honor her.

The District 2 station made her an honorary firefighter and presented her family with a plaque. Weston used to work for Kiona High School and Finley High School as a drug intervention specialist. Captain Bill Reed says the fire department sees many honorable qualities in her.

"She's been fighting it. Spirits have been up and everything else. She's demonstrated a lot of bravery an courage. So we nominated here for today's, September 8th 2012, to Benton County two's honorary firefighter," says Reed.

Wrist bands that say We Love Jessica are being sold at local businesses to help pay for her treatments. You can purchase them at 9th Street Coffee in Benton City and at Rivalee's Cafe in the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick. The bracelets are three dollars each.

You can also donate to a Chase Bank account in her name.

Updates and more information about Jessica can be found on the We Love Jessica Facebook page.
