Parks and recreation going high tech

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Signing up for classes and services through Yakima Parks and Rec. is about to go high tech.

Starting in January, you'll be able to sign up for your favorite swim classes, soccer teams, and even after school programs through a new online service.

The new program isn't going to cost the city anything either. But, there will be a small fee for every transaction.

"It's a service that we can provide to our customers. They can register kids for swim lessons at home at 2 o'clock in the morning if they want to," said Ken Wilkinson, Parks and Rec. manager.

Wilkinson says results from last summer's parks survey showed people in town wanted to be able to sign up online.

If you don't have a computer, don't worry, you'll still be able to sign up by phone, mail, or in person.
