Semi flips after hitting power pole in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. -- A man is lucky to be alive after the tractor trailer he was driving veered off the road, and slammed into a power pole.

it happened shortly after 3:30 PM, traveling West bound on Vineyard Road near Highway 395 in Franklin County.

The semi was hauling potatoes which also spilled all over the road. "Fortunately the wires were not touching the truck, and so we were safely able to get him out. It could have been much worse," says Franklin County Fire District 3 Chief Les Litzenberger.

The driver was injured but did manage to walk away from the accident and into an ambulance. Crews arrived on scene to clean up the potatoes and fix the pole.
