KENNEWICK, Wash. - During the month of August, the American Red Cross and the cities of Kennewick, Pasco and Richland held the "City Challenge 2012" to see which city could donate the most blood.

The results have been tallied, and the Red Cross says Kennewick is the winner. The blood drives were held in the spirit of some healthy competition and for hospital patients in need of blood.

The city of Kennewick collected 69 units, Richland collected 45 and Pasco collected 46.The Red Cross says each unit of blood collected can help save up to three lives, meaning the blood drive in each city combined could help nearly 450 people.
