Richland City Council Approves Reach Center's Lease

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. -- Richland City Council also approved amendments to the lease for the proposed Hanford Reach Interpretive Center tonight.

Richland's Public Facilities district is moving forward with plans for a smaller, scaled-back reach center. The new lease amendments will allow the PFD to move some of the money in their reserves account into the construction budget.

The city council also approved an amendment to their transportation improvement plan, which will allow them to allocate more than $700,00 in federal transportation money to the infrastructure phase of the project.

Organizers are hoping to start work on the infrastructure phase this fall, with building construction set to begin next June.
