RICHLAND, Wash. -- The end of an era for Richland baseball. Head coach Ben Jacobs announced his retirement. Jacobs won four state titles and more than 500 games with Bombers baseball. He spent more than 30 years with the Richland School District. Now Jacobs said he wants to spend more time watching his son, Brett, play ball at Washington State University. Coach Jacobs said he will remember the teams that overcame adversity as much as the state championships.

"The '96 team, we finished tied for eighth in the league. We won a playoff to get into the district tournament, ended up finishing second at state. Guys like Dominique Woody on that team. He was pretty much to face of the program for a long time, so I remember guys like him," Jacobs said.
