Snow making machines fighting fire at Mission Ridge Ski Resort
WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Mission Ridge Ski Resort near Wenatchee is using snow-making equipment to spray water on buildings and grounds as a wildfire burns just a half-mile away.
The canons used to make snow in the winter wet down areas that could be ignited by embers from the wildfire.
Mission Ridge owner Larry Scrivanich says rocky, mostly barren ground plus the work of firefighters should keep the flames from reaching the resort. He says the flames from the Table Mountain fire are visible.
Chelan County Emergency Management has told people living in the area to evacuate.
