Fire along Highway 12 keeps firefighters busy

Naches, WASH.-- A brush fire kept firefighters busy along Highway 12 in Naches Monday morning.

The fire started around 9 a.m. and charred between 20 to 30 acres.

Several crews responded because the fire was threatening several structures in the Wonderland Mobile Home Park.

Firefighters were able to protect the homes.

People living in the area said they're happy the winds were blowing away from the park, which isn't the case normally.

Gordon Penaluna has a home in the park. He said, "If the wind had come up at that time it would of been a different ball game, you never know."

Firefighters said they'll continue to monitor the area Monday night to make sure smoldering debris does not flare up with the winds.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
