Classroom Makeover for Vista Elementary Teacher

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Friday marks the start of our KNDU Classroom Makeovers. For the rest of the school year, KNDU and Kadlec Regional Medical Center are selecting one local, nominated teacher every month, to redo their classroom.

Friday morning, NBC Right Now's Claire Graham, and Kadlec doctor, Kevin Marsh, surprised Vista Elementary School Teacher, Christopher Coxen with a $500 check. Gathered outside for a PTA Jog-a-Thon, Coxen and his students had no idea.

"It's kind of one of those things that we always run into, the financial ability to provide for our classrooms and provide the supplies and everything we need," Coxen said, "so this is going to be a tremendous help, I can't even begin to explain how great it's going to be."

A classroom parent nominated Mr. Coxen for the contest because of his dedication and hard work, even as a first year teacher who hasn't received his first pay check.

If you have a teacher you'd like to nominate for a classroom makeover, just click on the KNDU Classroom Makeovers tab.
