Operation Harvest picking up food Saturday

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Rotary clubs in Yakima and Ellensburg need your help to donate food for local food banks.

They're holding their 30th Annual Operation Harvest Saturday. People can leave non-perishable food donations on the front porch and volunteers will pick it up.

The Yakima Rotary Club is hoping to collect 130,000 pounds of food this year in honor of the event's 30th anniversary.

"We have a lot of people that don't have anything and for those of us who do, we have an obligation to help take care of our fellow humans in this community," says Al Brown with the Yakima Rotary Club.

If you'd like to donate just leave any non-perishable items in front of your home before 9 Saturday morning.

Volunteers will sweep through Yakima, East Valley, Union Gap, Selah, Naches, and Ellensburg.
