KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Rubber ducks raced down the Columbia River Saturday at the 24th Annual Mid-Columbia Duck Race at Columbia Park in Kennewick.
Forty-two thousand ducks were put in the water. The winning duck's owner, Tom Dysan, won a brand new Toyota Camry from Toyota of Tri-Cities. All the money raised goes to local charities and scholarships.
"It stays local. That way the charities that may not get a lot of funding elsewhere, then they can count on us. So you've got the Coats for Kids program. We buy coats, give them to Coats for Kids, canned food drives," says Greg Holben.
The event was family friendly with a bouncy house and games for kids. The race raised about two hundred thousand dollars for Tri-Cities Rotary.
