Veterans monument dedicated at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. - Washington State University Tri-Cities held a ceremony in Richland today to dedicate a veterans monument to honor those sacrificed.

Just three months after breaking ground, the bronze monument now stands tall with stories submitted by student veterans and their loved ones.

The monument emphasizes veterans and their goals for higher education and that they are supported and not alone.

"When I came back, I was disabled and I went back to university and we were reputed by our communities and by the university community in general. And to see this campus and this community welcome back the veterans and acknowledge their service it's a wonderful thing," said Timothy Hermsen, Veteran and Monument Contributor.

And this monument is only the beginning. Site design calls for several more phases to install seating areas and sidewalks.
