Second Lawsuit filed against Yakima Valley Community Foundation

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- A second person in two days has filed a lawsuit against the Yakima Valley Community Foundation.

Former Director of Program Services Emily Medeiros claims she faced a hostile work environment, harassment, and wrongful termination.  Former employee John Colgan and his wife also brought a wrongful termination lawsuit against the organization yesterday. Medeiros claims she was targeted for harassment in the organization because she had worked closely with Colgan before he left.

"Emily Medeiros was... Marked. And her tenure at the foundation was obviously doomed. She tried to put up with the harassment, she tried to put up with the hostile work environment," says Medeiros' Attorney J.J. Sandlin.

Sandlin wouldn't say how much money the lawsuit involves, only claiming it would be "a significant amount". We called the foundation but representatives told us they did not have the documents yet and couldn't comment.
