SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

In the chase for the Great Northern title it appears to be a two-horse race. That is, unless West Valley doesn't take care of business on Friday night in Spokane Valley.

The Eagles are currently tied for the GNL lead with Pullman. Pullman is on a bye this week, and West Valley faces rival East Valley. The Knights are just one game back in the standings, making Friday's matchup a crucial one for both Valley schools.

"It kind of means a lot," said West Valley linebacker Trevor Cooper. "My sophomore year I was injured and they kind of wailed on us a little bit, and ever since then I've had that even more kind of intense fire for East Valley."

"Being in the GNL for three years now – ever since we were sophomores – we beat them when we were sophomores, they beat us when we were juniors and we want to get a little revenge, especially as we head to playoffs, we have to get this win," said senior East Valley defensive end Joey Copeland.

Friday's game between West Valley and East Valley is at 7 p.m. at East Valley.
