Another loss for Walla Walla's endangered octopus

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - It's going to cost a lot more than an arm and a leg for a Walla Walla businessman to recover from his court battles. Try eight arms and purple ones, at that.

Robert Castiff owns the Inland Octopus toy store and he lost another court battle this week. The Washington State Supreme Court has denied his petition to review a previous court ruling about the giant purple octopus mural painted on his building.

Last summer, a superior court judge ruled that the city's sign requirements were valid.

Catsiff now owes more than $70,000 in fines after the city imposed a $100 a day fine two years ago.
