Health experts urging everyone to start getting flu shots

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Flu season is underway, and health experts are urging everyone to get a flu shot.

Flu cases usually start appearing in October and then peak in January or February. The latest flu vaccine protects against two new strains including a more severe version of H3N2.

If you're looking to get vaccinated, there are a number of options.

One is the traditional flu shot. There's also the intradermal shot, which uses a smaller needle that only goes into the skin and not the muscle. There's also a higher dose shot for people over 65. Finally there's the flu mist, a nasal spray for healthy people between the ages of two and 49.
