Suspect arrested for recent vehicle thefts

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - A man is behind bars after being arrested as a suspect for recent vehicle thefts in Ellensburg.

Around 3 this morning, Ellensburg police arrested 31-year-old Nicholas Ryan Compton after observing suspicious activity in the 200 block of South Pine street.

According to police, an officer approached Compton inside of a 1994 Honda Civic that was reported stolen earlier in the evening from the 600 block of East 1St Street in Ellensburg. Police said Compton also had property and documents on him connecting him with recent stolen vehicles from Ellensburg and Central Washington University.

Compton is currently booked at Kittitas County Corrections Center for possession of a stolen vehicle and other stolen property.
