ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Police make another arrest for stolen vehicles in Ellensburg.
Police arrested 22-year-old Robert Smith after responding to a report of a stolen vehicle driving through a gate and leaving the scene in the area of 14th and Delphine.
Police said damage was also observed on a gate at the Kittitas County Public Works shop and maintenance facility located at 14th and Delphine.
According to police, it was determined that the suspect stole a bucket truck and drove it through the gate, a residential fence, down the street, and then fled.
A Washington State Patrol Trooper located the suspect and truck in the Ward Rugh parking lot at University Way and Cora Street. Police said they believe the suspect drove down the hill from Cora street, across University Way, striking hay trailers before coming to a stop after striking a large "top pick" truck.
Smith was treated at the scene for his injuries before booking him in to the Kittitas County Corrections Center for Burglary, Vehicle Theft, Hit and Run and DUI.
Police say they are also investigating a burglary at Jr's Econo Mart located at 619 West University Way that happened around the same time. Police found evidence on Smith that could connect him with the burglary.
