BOTHELL, Wash. -The University of Washington's Bothell campus is now the biggest branch campus in the state.
More than 4,000 students enrolled for the fall quarter. UW says it expects enrollment at the Bothell campus will reach 5,000 students by 2015.
The university says the dramatic growth at the Bothell campus can be attributed to its location and the increasing demand for higher education across the state.
UW-Bothell got its first big enrollment boost when it started accepting freshmen and sophomores in 2006. The 670 freshmen enrolled this quarter make up the biggest incoming class ever.
The state's second largest branch campus is UW-Tacoma with 3,919 students. Washington State University Tri-Cities had a fall 2011 enrollment of 1,520.
WSU wants to open a fourth branch campus in Everett.
