Advocacy working to get immigrant vote out

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - An advocacy group is calling on registered immigrants in our region to get excited and get out to vote.

OneAmerica is aggressively reaching out statewide and also in Yakima and the Tri-Cities.

They are making calls and going door to door, encouraging registered immigrants to vote by November 6th.

With less than two weeks until election day, organizers and volunteers are gearing up to hit the streets one last time on Saturday to get immigrant voters fired up.

"We want to make sure that everyone is out participating and getting their voice out. That way we can elect officials that have our best interests in mind. So, it's definitely important for all immigrants that are registered to vote and eligible vote," said Jazmin Santacruz, member of OneAmerica.

OneAmerica reached out to more than 40,000 immigrant voters across the state with help from more than 200 volunteers.

They invite anyone to join them this Saturday, canvassing the region to remind people to vote.
