How To Keep Your Kids Safe On Halloween

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Halloween is supposed to be a time for children to dress up, have a good time with their friends and feast on candy.  But there are things you need to do to keep them safe on hallow's eve.

There are tools you can use to make sure your children aren't in any danger while trick-or-treating.  One of those tools is the sex offender registry so you may research the neighborhood before you head out and know which places to avoid.

KHQ asked Spokane Police if there are restrictions for sex criminals on Halloween.  We were told that unless they are under active supervision by the department of corrections, that there are no other restrictions for sex offenders on Halloween.

They advise that parents be more proactive with their kids on Halloween.  They say that parents need to go along with their kids when they trick-or-treat and to find neighborhoods where you know the homeowner and avoid unfamiliar areas.

There are also several apps that you can download on your phone where you can track where these people live. Remember, there are no restrictions for sex offenders unless they are under active supervision from the department of corrections.
