KENNEWICK, Wash. - Halloween can be a hectic time for anyone wanting to save money. There are many ways to save money just by making your own costume.
"Here (at Value Village) we have our zombie costume. You can get a white shirt and white pair of pants for as little as $5.99 and you can get as many accessories as you want to really complete the look for a fraction of the cost a new zombie costume," said Aaron Wilson, an employee at Value Village.
Safety experts also have a few tips for a last minute costume:
- A safe costume for your children should be flame resistant, comfortable and fit appropriately, including shoes to help kids from tripping.
- Use props that are soft and flexible to help avoid injury.
- Adding reflective tape to costumes and treat bags or wearing a costume with glow sticks or a reflector helps drivers notice trick or treaters.
Experts also said face painting is better than wearing a mask, because masks can be hard to see and even breathe out of.
