RICHLAND, Wash. - The children of the Hindu Society of Eastern Washington and the Sagebrush Montessori School are collecting food for their 7th annual Halloween drive.
A week before Halloween, students went door to door handing out flyers asking for food donations instead of candy. They began picking up the donations on Halloween night.
"Trick or fooding, so that's what I like to say. Since we gave out the flyers saying that we would be coming around Halloween a week ago, people have actually stocked up. And so, instead of getting one or two cans, we got a whole bag load of cans per house. And I did 30 houses," said Viknesh Kasturi, a student in his seventh year in the food drive.
John Neill, the Executive Director of the food bank, said the students raised over $600 and over a 1000 lbs. of food this year.
All donations go to the Tri-Cities food bank in Richland.
