Washington state aids in Sandy relief

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - Cargo planes from Joint Base Lewis-Mcchord are helping to move passengers and cargo in support of superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

The 62nd Airlift Wing said one C-17 Globemaster left Thursday morning and another will be leaving Thursday night. The planes are traveling from March Air Reserve Base, CA to Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, N.Y.

The cargo includes Southern California Edison utility vehicles that will help restore power.
