SEATTLE, Wash.- The
Secretary of State says a record 3.9 million people have registered to vote
this year.
Spokesman Dave Ammons
says 180,000 people have registered since the august primary. Ammons says 3.63
million registered in 2008.
Secretary of State Sam
Reed predicted earlier this week the state will see an 81 percent voter turnout
by the time elections are over. Washington's record is 79 percent.
Reed says the races for president and governor, as
well as the ballot measures in the country, such as gay
marriage and marijuana legalization, will compel people to vote.
