ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- More victims of the Taylor Bridge Fire have joined a lawsuit against the two contractors who were working in the area when the fire started.
Last month, about a dozen victims filed the original negligence lawsuit against Conway Construction and Rainier Steel. Now the number of plaintiffs in this lawsuit has grown to nearly 60.
The state is still investigating the cause of the blaze.
However, the attorney who filed the suit, Mike Helgren, said he believes both companies used the wrong kind of equipment for the area.
"Either that equipment wouldn't have been used on the bridge or there would have been other precautions taken so that sparking from that equipment would not have started the fire," Helgren said.
Helgren also said he has talked with other victims who will likely add their names to the suit in the future.
We contacted both Conway Construction and Rainier Steel to get their comments but neither company returned our calls.
