BLOG: I REALLY Like The New NBA Flopping Rule

Updated:

It's the beginning of a new era in the NBA. I think I like it.

Cleveland's Donald Sloan and Minnesota's JJ Barea became the first two players in league history to be warned about flopping.

Barea flew back after getting a forearm from Sacramento's Jimmer Fredette last Friday. His flailing made it look bad, but slow motion tells a different story.

Sloan fell to the floor after getting screened on the way up the court against Chicago. That, too, looked, looked much less severe in slow motion.

The next time these two players try their act on the officials they get a $5,000 fine. A third flop is worth $10,000, all the way up to $30,000 for five flops. Let's just hope the players and coaches don't treat them as fouls for sale. That would be a bad thing.

That's all for today. Enjoy the basketball!

"It gives me that drive to want to push past everybody and be the best player I can be," Yamamoto says of constantly hearing about his 5-9, 160-lb. frame. "Ultimately my goal is to be the best player every time I step on the ice. It gets a little frustrating but it gives me that drive and helps me out in the end."   There's a small group of ...
