$2,500 worth of coats donated to kids in Yakima

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash., -- A lot of kids in Yakima will soon be a bit warmer this winter thanks to HAPO Community Credit Union.

Representatives from the credit union donated over $2,500 worth of coats today to our KNDO studio.

The coats will go to the Salvation army in Yakima and the Center for Hispanic Health Promotion in Sunnyside.

This is the 3rd year HAPO is donating coats to kids of the Yakima valley.

"Each individual employee that works for HAPO Community credit union truly cares about the individuals in our community and the need," says Crystal Contreras.  "So we like to give back!"

NBC Right Now is collecting coats for our "Coats for Kids" drive through the end of December.  For more information on where to donate and how to get coats click here.
