PASCO, Wash. - The City of Pasco held a dedication ceremony on Friday for its safety improvements on 4th Avenue.

The construction between Marie and Sylvester streets is complete.  For about three weeks, city workers installed new roundabouts to ease traffic congestion and improve safety for pedestrians.

The Deputy City Manager Stan Strebel said there have been some problems in the area with people driving too fast.

"Over the last 10 years we've actually had a couple of traffic pedestrian fatalities in this corridor. Part of the problem has been that traffic is moving too quickly through the corridor," Strebel said.

Other project improvements include new handicapped access ramps and new cross walk lights to help pedestrians cross the street.
